Dig This features all new recordings of the 13 originals from the 1993 album "Ditch Diggin'". These new arrangements were tracked and mixed at The Kudzu Ranch in 2013 by Rick Miller and Mark Williams with Mary Huff on bass, keys and vocals, Rick Miller on guitar and vocals and Dave Hartman on drums and percussion. We have also included in all packages, LP, CD and Digital a free download of Karaoke tracks.
We have a drainage ditch that runs by the Kudzu Ranch. I noticed not to long ago that a lot of old dead leaves, sticks and some garbage was blocking the water flow. That ditch had been left unattended for so long it was not doing its job and when it rained the water would overflow and come up to the garage door. The last thing any fellow wants is flooded garage – no man wants a rusty tool in his shed!
Anyhow — to make a short story long, I decided to dig a new ditch or at least upgrade the old ditch. I was dragging tree limbs, shoveling the muck, looking for turtles and watching for snakes and humming the riff to “Ditch Diggin'”. That is when it dawned on me that it had been almost 20 years since we recorded the album of the same name, and all those songs could use an upgrade to 2013 specs just like this ditch I am sweating over right now, but instead of a shovel – I’d use a guitar, easier on the back!
Well I am here to tell you that both ditches got dug! Mary, Dave and I all got together this winter and re-recorded every SCOTS original on 1994’s “Ditch Digging”. The new collection is called "DIG THIS".
